We made it to NC...

Well, after 1640 approximate miles of driving, we made it to NC. We left Winter Park at noon on Friday and stayed in Hays, KS, and only lost one hour due to time zone change. We began our drive at 7 a.m. Saturday and after two major traffic detours on I-70 in Kansas City and on I-64 in St. Louis, we arrived safely in Paducah, KY, for the night--which included a daylight savings time change. Our drive on Sunday began at 7:44 a.m. and included only one approximately 20 minute holdup for a traffic accident on I-40 in Knoxville, TN. We arrived here at 4:30 p.m. We were not sure if we would make it or not. We had sprung a leak in the transfer case and it got progressively worse as we drove, throwing oil up on the tailgate of the truck. Our "service engine soon" light came on and we still had about 100 miles to go.

So, Rae Ann cooked an awesome Cajun Shrimp Penne for dinner with Cranberry Walnut salad and Europeon cheese herb bread fresh out of the breadmaker. We had Ghiradelli chocolate ice cream from Cold Stone for dessert.

Bob had Monday off, so Rae ann took it off too, so we could go golfing, but our morning was spent taking care of the truck. Bob and Ray took the truck to Bob's work while Rae Ann & I went to get her allergy shot. We met up at Bob's work and found that the transfer case was cracked, so the truck is at the doctor's until it is fixed.

We had lunch at Five Guys which is a fresh burger and fries joint that is fantastic. Then we went golfing in the 67 degree weather and all played comparably with Bob & Rae Ann scoring 64 each and Ray & I scoring 62 each--what a coincidence that the couples scored the same score. It felt good to get outside and not have to deal with snow. I am still suffering with my left knee. Ray is still suffering with his cold and was up at 3:45 last night with coughing. I got him a cough drop and he did better. Hopefully he can get a better night sleep.

Monday night Bob grilled pork chops and fresh veggies and potatoes--which we loaded for dinner. We are relaxing and enjoying our stay with them and the beautiful weather. Bob and Rae Ann went off to work and Ray did dishes and I did some laundry. Then we went to the Mooresville Public Golf Course and played 18 holes. The front nine was not good to me with a 71, but a 53 on the back was redeeming. Ray got 60 on both the front and back. It felt so good to be out and able to complete a full 18.

Rae Ann has a class on Excel today, and our truck is supposed to be done today. We will probably head north toward Statesville to golf again and then I am making a philly cheesesteak pizza for dinner and chocolate macaroon pizza for dessert. We are going to head to total wine to buy a case of spumanti since St. Julian decided to quit making it.

Sure do hope all of you are well and things have been calm. We love all of you! Great big kisses and squishies all around. We have the computer working at their house now as well as our cell on us. We have no clue when we will be leaving here as we just plainly have not made that decision.
